Congratulations to Sir John Rutter

February 18, 2025

Congratulations to Sir John Rutter who was knighted by the King at an investiture at Buckingham Palace on 18 February 2025. The choral society is presently hard at work preparing for its next major show-piece concert.  Sir John Rutter will be the featured composer and the choir will perform his Requiem and Magnificat which were both written in the late twentieth century. One of the joys of being a member of the choral society is that each week we are able to sing beautiful pieces of choral music.  Learning this music individually and then singing together in four-part harmony requires hard work, but provides more than a little fun and gives enormous satisfaction.  Being led through this process by our wonderfully talented Director of Music, Steve Cowperthwaite, is a real privilege. As one of our members recently said, “the wonderful thing about a choir is that only through working together do we succeed”.  We each make our individual contribution but it is only by teamwork and joining together in absolute harmony do we produce the awe-inspiring final product.  We are well down the path of achieving this for our forthcoming concert on 5 April 2025.
